Unfortunately the grading of the 6th round essays is taking longer than expected and won’t be finished before monday 26.5.
The results from the 2. mid-term 2. take and final augmented exam can be found here.
The exam review session for the 2. mid-term exam 1. and 2. take and for the final augmented exam will be held Fri 30.5. 16-18. Please enroll to the corresponding event in Webtopi so we can have some idea of how many people are coming. Also note, that the doors to the Innopoli 2 building will be locked after 16:30, so arrive before that.
The weekly essay review session will be held Wed 28.5. 14-16. Enroll to the session(s) corresponding to the essay(s) you want to review in Webtopi. Do not enroll to all of the events “just in case”, only to the event you really want to participate. You must enroll to the essay exercise event(s) you want to participate in, otherwise your essay(s) will not be reviewed.
The results of the second mid-term exam take 2 and the final augmented exam will be published 21.5. This is simply due to extremely congested schedule the course staff currently has.
2. mid-term take 1 results can be found here.
The lecture hall for the second mid-term exam Thu 8.5. is M (Mellin) in the main TKK building.
There will be no multiple choice questions in the second mid-term exam this year. In practice this means, that you should prepare yourself to write a bit faster than in the first-mid term, as the multiple choice questions will be replaced with an essay question.
The required material for the second mid-term exam is:
All guest lectures
All weekly exercises
The course feedback for spring 2008 is now open. Remember that giving feedback is a mandatory part of this course. The feedback will be open till 20.5.2008
You can find the course feedback form through here.
Remember to enroll to the first take of the second mid-term exam before you start your May Day celebration. The enrollment closes 01.05. 23:59.
There has been some confusion about the required points from the weekly exercises. You are required to get 50% of total sum of all the exercise rounds combined. The points from the weekly exercises will be scaled to the 40 course points after the second part of the course. You can get 20 exercise points from each essay and 20 points from each quiz. If nothing unexpected happens, in practice this means that each exercise point is worth 40/220 (or 0.18) course points.
For more information, see passing_the_course.
The lecture on 23.4. has been canceled.
Moodle seems to been down the whole weekend, the DL of the fourth round is moved two days forward to 24.4. 11:55 AM.
You can now unenroll yourself from the course in Moodle if you for some reason need to.
If you for some reason would like to unenroll from the course, currently you cannot unenroll from the course in Moodle. The administrator has been asked to enable the unenrollment and you will be informed here when it is enabled.
Based on the two first essays, the greatest reason for not getting good score is that all questions or problems in the essay assignment have not been answered. You cannot get good score by answering only to part of the questions or problems presented, no matter how good those answers are.
Also make sure that your writing is intelligible and the language is understandable. We do not require grammatically perfect writing, but if we cannot understand your writing we are not going to guess what you could possibly mean.
To get maximum points, you were required to contemplate the possible reasons to not to go global and describe the negative sides of GSD. You were required to discuss the positive and negative sides of both nearshoring and offshoring. In addition, a reasonable proposal with proper motivation of what GuruSoft should do was required.
2 points were reduced if you didn’t use references or if you failed to answer in essay form.
The publishing of the fourth essay was delayed and the deadline of fourth round exercises is moved accordingly. The new deadline is 22.4. 11:55
There has been some confusion about the deadline of the 3rd exercise round. The original purpose was to have the deadline at 12:00 (that is, mid-day), but because of the possibility of confusion with AM/PM the new DL of round 3 exercises is at 23:55 PM (before mid-night).
For some reason, Moodle uses 24h clock when teacher inputs deadlines, but displays the times with 12h clock. To prevent future confusion, the time 12:00 will be completely avoided in deadlines.
To get maximum points, you were required to describe all four time horizons presented in the lecture and answer the questions what, why and when for each one of them, not forgetting to describe what should be done in between the cycles. In addition, a plan how to roll-out the new model was required.
If your plan didn’t include all four time horizons, you were required to explain why you thought the horizon(s) you left out were not important.
Due to the large amount of students on this course, we cannot provide personalized feedback on the essays. There will be one essay review session at the end of the course where you can review your essays.
The 1. essay was penalized 2 points for missing references and 2 points if it was considerably longer than instructed. The same rules will be applied to the 2. essay.
Remember, that starting from the 3. essay, essays missing references will not be graded.
Essays not following the referencing rules on round 2 will be graded, but some points will be reduced as result.
Starting from Essay 3, essays missing references will not be graded.
Due to problems with TKK e-mail the 3rd essay exercise will be published today at 12:00. The deadline is moved accordingly.
Starting from the Essay 2, any essays not following the returning rules will NOT be graded.
Make sure you follow and understand the guidelines!
For the first round, there were many essay returns which didn’t follow the returning guidelines, so here are the guidelines agan.
