Designer Experience:
Exploring Ways to Design in Experience

Organizers

This workshop on Designer Experience is organized by researchers from the Aalto University’s Strategic Usability Research Group STRATUS. Research in STRATUS addresses methods for eliciting and analyzing user's needs, capabilities, expectations and experiences that affect the usage of products and consumption of services. The results of our research including the methodology contribute to real-life product and service development.

Mika P. Nieminen, Lic.Sc. (Tech.)

Mika is a senior lecturer at Aalto University School of Science and Technology. His research interests lie in user-centered product concept design, especially in involving actual end-users in product development. He teaches post-graduate courses on strategic user-centered design to students from software engineering, industrial design and cognitive science. Mika has designed mixed reality application for children, enterprise resource planning systems for manufacturing, and productivity tools for mobile knowledge workers. His current research topics include product designers’ immersion to user knowledge, co-design and experiential design.

Mika is the primary contact for this Designer Experience workshop.

Mikael Runonen, M.Sc. (Tech.),

Mikael is a researcher at Aalto University School of Science and Technology. The focus of his research interests is in developing user-centered methods for very early stages of product development. This focus is broken down into understanding and developing user experience and connecting it with the generation of user value.
