The prototype phase spans three months, 4.12.1995 - 4.3.1996. This time is so long that the phase is divided into two parts, PT1 and PT2. The Christmas and New Year holidays occur during PT1, so it is longer.
The spiral model of software development is increasingly important in this phase. The Customer does not have a clear idea of how the language learning facilities should be implemented, so there is a need for several rapid prototyping rounds of the spiral. Every round the current prototype is evaluated and then improved upon.

When PT1 is close to its end, the Customer, the Supervisor and the Team will hold a meeting to evaluate PT1. The results will then be used to refine the project plan for PT2.
The meeting was postponed on 5th February, as the Customer was ill. Documents created during the phase were reviewed on 9th February and the results are summarized in the reviews archive.
